I bought some new headphones recently. They are some Sonys that weren’t that expensive, but the bass range on them is awesome. Trust me, if you want to open up a whole new world of music, get some bassy headphones.
Everything sounds better with BASS. (No Trainor references please)
So, when I heard this song for the first time this morning (Thanks Zan), my ears immediately pricked up as I knew I had found my #MoodyMonday tune. It is bassy, bassy goodness.
Who are Silicon? Well, that’s a good, but easy question that can be answered by asking other questions.
Do you know Unknown Mortal Orchestra (UMO)? Yes.
A member of UMO is Ruban Nielson.
Do you know the Mint Chicks? No. (well, you should)
Ruban Nielson was in The Mint Chicks with his brother, Kody.
Who is Kody Nielson? Shrug.
Kody is Silicon. A new project for the multi-instrumentalist from NZ/Hawaii. He also formed a group called Opossom for a while, but you don’t need to know that.
So, now that we have that out of the way, check out this brand new song and tell me it’s not good. Very much inspired by his brother’s band, Kody has produced some synth-bass goodness that bounces on your eardrums like a cloud. It’s jazzy, dreamy and poppy all at once and leaves you with a sense of anxious calm.
An album is dropping on May 25 and he is supporting UMO with some dates in Europe over the coming month. Look out for this project and spend the next 2 minutes and 41 seconds listening…
