Tuesday Tunesday #6 | The Tea Party – Water’s on Fire

When I finally saw The Tea Party live two years ago at The Hordern I was blown away. I had been a fan of them since around 1995 when I heard Fire In The Head, but they’re one of those bands that have been in the background for me. Not quite making it above other 90’s bands that I loved (Soundgarden, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Living Colour)

They have probably never received the accolades that they’ve deserved, but man they are good at what they do. All very talented musicians and one of very few bands to retain the same members for over 20 years.

Singer, Jeff Martin, has been living in Byron Bay now for a few years and plays solo gigs around the traps pretty often, but it’s when he jumps out from of The Tea Party that he really shines. His voice is bloody amazing.

This new song is from their upcoming album, The Ocean At The End, which has been partly recorded in Australia and sees them doing a massive tour around the country in the coming months.

As soon as I heard Jeff’s vocals on this song, I was hooked, but to be honest, it’s not the best tune they’ve done. I am looking forward to the rest of the album and the tour and to see where they will take us next.
