Each and every week of 2018, I’ll be bringing you a new music playlist. 10 new songs that I’ve been listening to.
If you’re one of those people that gets to the end of year countdowns and say, “Who are these people….I’ve never heard of them!”, listen to this playlist!
For this, the fourth week of the year, I bring an eclectic mix of new tunes.
Urthboy, on the eve of his Turning Circle EP, releases a new track, Have & Hold with TIAAN. Inspiring track and always great to have Urthy bringing out material!
Royal Chant love releasing music and their new mini-album, Pride and Poverty is bloody great. I like to call it relaxed rock. Power Pose is a rocking little tune.
Sarah Blasko is on the verge of her sixth album and this song, A Shot, the second taste from it is another beautifully smooth teaser.
Tonight Alive just released the very rocking album, Underworld and Book of Love is one of the highlights. It’s a little bit Paramore and very much banging.
Kimbra is back with a unique track, Human. She is always looking to advance her style and her sound.
One of my favourites of 2017 was Wafia and her album, VIII has dropped and it’s bloody great. Her voice cuts through like sunshine and she has a knack of creating songs that seem to bounce around and touch you over and over again. Check out Breathe.
When Golden Vessel teams up with his mate, Emerson Leif, you can be sure of a winner. Coming out of nowhere, after his very awesome Right/Side EP, this track is a slow burner that you need on these hot days.
thando has been gathering, building and working her way into the scene over the years and this track with REMI, NUMB., is where she creates fire and unleashes it on 2018. Her soaring voice collabs with the smoothness of REMI.
Marlon Williams just keeps getting better and What’s Chasing You sees the Kiwi’s voice hitting maximum croon. It takes you back to a time when things were simpler.
The band with the coolest name, Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird, are close to their debut album and if Transient is what we can expect, it’s going to be tops. A bit of a twang to this grower. A great mix of ye olde organ and restrained vocals.
Check out my playlist here and look out for one each week!
